Short Bio: Albert Pujols was born on January 16, 1980 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Albert and his family immigrated to the United States in the early 1990s and upon his arrival Pujols realized that he loved the game of baseball. Albert loved to play baseball, watch baseball, and even talk about baseball. The game quickly became his passion and practice paid off. In high school Albert was known as a great hitter with a batting average of over .500 his first season, which is undeniably impressive. Unlike a lot of young men, Albert’s passion for baseball didn’t die when he graduated from high school. Instead, Pujols attended Maple Woods Community College in Kansas City. His first season with the community college team proved fruitful, as he hit a grand slam and turned an unassisted triple play! Albert Pujols made his talent, with a batting average of .461 his first year in college.
With a sweet swing and big league power, outfielder Albert Pujols of the St. Louis Cardinals has become one of baseball's most feared hitters. Kidzworld checks out the 2005 National League MVP. Since then, Albert Pujols has been a one-man wrecking crew with his bat and has had some of baseball's best pitchers crying to their mommies like little babies. In 2002, Albert became the first player in Major League Baseball history to hit .300 with 30 home runs, 100 runs scored, and 100 RBIs in each of his first two seasons. He also helped the Cardinals get to the World Series in 2004 and 2005. The slugger was named the National League MVP in 2005 as well. In 2006, Pujols contines to dominate on the field, recently getting his 1,000th hit and becoming the second fastest player in history to reach 18 homeruns in a season - amd he's done all this despite a painful back injury. Height: 6-1
Weight: 200
Place of birth: Covina, CA
Bats/Throws: R / R
Seasons: 11
Drafted by: the Toronto Blue Jays in 1997 (5th round)
Short Bio: Michael Brian Young was born on October 19, 1976 in Covina, California. His mom Anna called him B as a boy (from his middle name), and his dad Fred called him Mikey. Michael’s parents were both U.S.-born, but his mother’s family was from Mexico. English was spoken in the Young home, although Michael picked up Spanish over the years. Today, he can converse with his Latino teammates in the majors.
Baseball was Michael’s favorite sport as a child. From the age of four, he planned to become a pro player. The talent was there and so was the teaching. Fred would talk technique and strategy as long as his son would listen. In 1998, his first full year as a pro, Michael batted .282 for Hagerstown. He also clubbed 16 home runs, which opened a lot of eyes in the Toronto organization. The Jays, however, were grooming him as a potential leadoff man. Sometimes when a ballplayer is called “consistent,” it’s a backhanded compliment. Michael Young wears that word like a badge of honor. No one in baseball works harder at the little things than the Texas Rangers third baseman. Astandout at three different positions, Michael is still known in Arlington as the guy who replaced A-Rod. For many years, it looked like Michael might be one of those guys who would never get a taste of postseason action. Through patience and leadership, he finally made it to the promised land and showed that consistency can also be a virtue. This is his story. For more details about Michael Young Visit Here.
